FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

1 yd. fabric for outside (non-directional)
1 yd. fabric for lining
2 - 3 1/2" strips for handles
1 pkg. of 1" elastic
2 yds. of 1" cording or batting (for handles)

Before you start, put any pockets that you desire on your fabrics.

CONSTRUCTION

1.  Layer 2 fabrics, right sides together.
  Sew down both long sides.
Turn right side out and press.

2.  Sew channel for elastic all down both long sides.

3.  Make a chalk mark 8" in from all 4 ends.

4.  Feed elastic all the way thru one channel.  Pull it out the other end until
the end of elastic is near the first chalk mark and sew across to secure it.
Pull the elastic again, gathering the area between chalk lines to about 10
inches.  Sew across second chalk line to secure this end.  Pull the elastic as
muc as you can and cut.

5.  Repeat for the other side.

6.
Casing for handles:  Press under 1/2" on both ends (towards the inside).
Press under another 1 3/4" and sew across.

7.
Handles:  Determine the length you want your handles.  Cut 2 strips 3
1/2" by the desired length.  Fold right sides together (the long way) and sew
down the raw edge to make a tube.  Turn the tube right side out and stuff
with batting or thick cording.  Feed one of the handles thru one of the
casings.  Sew the ends together and pull this section into the casing to hide
it.  Repeat for the other handle.
