Cut
1 white strip - 2 1/4" by width of fabric
1 focus fabric strip - 2 1/4" by width of fabric
From each strip cut 4 rectangles 2 1/4" x 6" and
4 rectangles 2 1/4" x 4 1/4".
Take one white 4 1/4" rectangle and one focus fabric
4 1/4" rectangle and assemble as shown in the diagram.
Make four identical sets.
Line up the corners and sew across
the corner. Trip off the excess
leaving a 1/4" seam. Press towards
the focus fabric.
Note: It is important to lay out your fabrics exactly as shown otherwise your whirlygig will
not spin in the right direction!
Take one 6" rectangle of each color and one assembled pair of 4 1/4" rectangles and assemble as
shown in the diagram. Make four identical sets.
Line up the corners and sew across
the corner. Trip off the excess
leaving a 1/4" seam. Press towards
the focus fabric.
Press away from the center
strip. Trim to 5 3/4" x 5 3/4"
Complete the block as shown in the diagram below:
